Each year, Musikgarten gives awards to two categories of teachers: those who have completed training in all core curricular levels receive the Musikgarten Achievement Award; the Musikgarten Exemplary Program Award is given to teachers who have been licensed with Musikgarten for 4 or more years and who offer their families the opportunity to grow with Musikgarten by offering four or more levels of Musikgarten curricula. This award was conceived to recognize those who understand the long-term commitment required when pursuing serious education and musical goals, both on the part of the teacher and student. Nancy Spahr Huskey (Miami County Early Childhood Music) has received both awards!

Nancy Spahr Huskey has received the designation "Master Teacher" by the Foundation for Music-Based Learning. She has worked in Head Start classrooms as a music specialist for the Music for Learning program, providing music instruction to pre-kindergarteners and training the classroom teachers in the curriculum. Besides fostering musical competency, the Music for Learning program has been highly successul in preparing children for success in kindergarten in the areas of motor, language, and social-emotional development; listening skills; and emergent literacy skills.
